Now what if a human suddenly falls in a pit full of bullet ant-infested hole. Can a human withstand the pain ?

THE BULLET ANTS

Now I know you’re wondering how much pain does one receive when being stung by a single bullet ant. Well as the ant’s name goes, some said that the pain is equal to the pain of being shot so they call the ant the bullet ant. Meanwhile, the ants are also called as the “24 hour ant” because of the pain which can last a full day. Now imagine being bitten by a colony of bullet ant simultaneously you might as well die from the shock it gives-ouch!

THE SCHMIDT’S PAIN SCALE

You might be wondering what is the Schmidt’s pain scale. Well, It is a pain index scale rated by a an entomologist named Justin Schmidt which studies the stings of a variety of insects. He rated the bullet ant’s sting as the most painful sting among the other insect he has been stung with. He describes the pain as :

“Pure, intense, brilliant pain. Like walking over flaming charcoal with a three inch nail embedded in your heel.”

Bullet ants will become hostile and will sting if its irritated. The pain can last for 12 to 24 hours. Beside those big stingers, the bullet ants also have toxins which is called Poneratoxin – a venom which blocks the synapse transmission which produces a temporary paralysis effect on the victim. Whilst, it proves that this venom is not lethal to man it has a potential to be used as an insecticide.

THE CONCLUSION

Well normally the pain that we will receive from a simultaneous sting of a colony of bullet ants will give us a shock to death. But there is a hypothesis that the sting from the bullet ants can revive a dead heart to beating. It is similar to the defibrillator tool which gives us an electric shock that can revive a dead heart.
